DIRECT LDL (1x30 / 1x10 ML)
LDL Cholesterol (LDL-C)
Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is produced in the liver through the metabolism of triglyceride-rich very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDLs). LDL is transported through the bloodstream and removed primarily by the liver through specific LDL receptors. Because LDL contributes significantly to cholesterol accumulation in atherosclerotic plaques, LDL-C is an important marker for assessing cardiovascular risk.
Clinical Significance
LDL-C measurement helps assess the risk of coronary atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.
Accurate LDL-C testing is important when monitoring lipid-lowering therapy.
Helps evaluate the effectiveness of treatment aimed at reducing LDL levels and preventing or slowing the progression of atherosclerosis.
Supports clinical assessment of cardiovascular risk and treatment response.
The assay can be used on automated clinical chemistry analyzers.
