ERBA LIPASE ECO PACK (1X20 /1 X 5 /1X3 ML)
Lipase
Lipase is an enzyme that catalyzes the breakdown of glycerol esters of long-chain fatty acids. Measuring lipase levels is particularly useful for evaluating pancreatic disorders, especially acute pancreatitis.
Clinical Significance
Lipase testing supports the investigation of pancreatic disorders.
In acute pancreatitis, lipase levels may increase significantly, reaching approximately 2–50 times the upper reference limit.
Lipase levels typically begin to rise within 4–8 hours after the onset of abdominal pain.
Levels generally peak at around 24 hours and may return toward normal within 8–14 days.
Lipase results should be interpreted together with clinical findings and other laboratory investigations.
