Total Protein

The Total Protein test is used to monitor changes in protein levels associated with various disease conditions. It is commonly performed alongside serum albumin, liver function tests, or protein electrophoresis, and the albumin/globulin ratio may also be calculated to provide additional clinical information.

Increased serum protein levels may be observed in dehydration, multiple myeloma, and chronic liver disease, while decreased levels may occur in renal diseases and terminal liver failure.
