Urea is the major end product of protein metabolism in humans. It is produced primarily in the liver and excreted through the kidneys in urine.

The Urea test is used to help assess kidney function and monitor metabolic conditions. Elevated urea levels may be observed in impaired kidney function, liver diseases, diabetes, and infectious diseases.
